C- (Meh).

Fairytale characters cross paths.

I don't understand Sondheim, I guess. These songs sound like he only wrote lyrics and just told the cast to sing them.

What happens when you devote an all star cast and excellent crew on a very minor musical. Predictable if you've ever read a fairy tale, without a single memorable tune. What a waste.

An excellent sequel to the 1964 original 'Mary Poppins', this one features Emily Blunt in the title role. Several well-known actors feature in this film, which has many scenes reminiscent of the original, and some new songs.

The story is set perhaps thirty years after the original, with Michael and Jane grown up and living in the family home with Michael's three children.

Recommended for a pleasant evening's light-hearted viewing for anyone who liked the original Mary Poppins.

I'm not a big fan of musicals in general but I love the 1920s, and Chicago contains one of my favorite musical numbers: The Cell Block Tango. (AKA the Murderesses Row song.) I love the stage conceit that's used throughout the movie to highlight and contrast the real world events. It's just a fun, easy to watch film with a lot of talent. I love the cameo from the OG Velma but I wish Jerry Orbach (the OG Billy Flynn) had made a cameo too!
