3.5 stars. The book feels like 2 different books - the first a story of surviving a harrowing childhood and the second the story of cooking a meal from every country of the world. Both were good.

A feel good story.

This book has inspired me to live differently, heal the past, cook more meals, expand my pallet, and brought me to tears several times. I highly recommend it!

Memoirs are one of my favorite non-fiction genres. This memoir is somewhat sad as Sasha's childhood is fraught with loss. I read this book because I heard her speak on a podcast and I thought the book would focus more on her around the world cooking. Even though it was only a small section of the book, I liked the book. I wish her the best.
