Overall this is a very moderate production of 'The Seagull'. It was not only made in America, it feels like it, and has no Chekhovian or Russian atmosphere despite repeated references to Moscow. The beginning is unclear as to who is who, mostly because the pace is too fast. Things improve a bit during the second half. Saoirse Ronan is probably the best of the cast, conveying youthful ardour well. But it is a disappointment.
This book was based off the movie flicka. I like these kinds of books because you can teach children that sometimes the book is better than the movie. I really liked this book because it was about a girl and her horse, something I can relate to. It was a story about how she found this wild horse and tamed her or be her own horse. One thing that was really cool about this chapter book is that it has 8 pages of colored photos and captions. That's pretty neat. The pictures were based off the movie. The book is filled with many twists and turns and leaves you wondering at times what is going to happen next. Filled with tons of adventure, this book was a fantastic read and I plan on having it on my future bookshelf in my classroom.… (more)
