What a great book to read children when learning about Canada and different areas in the country. Using a young girl visiting her grandmother on an island in the Salish Sea, you will see how the people live, what the land is like, what types of animals and plants are found. This is also a great story to share between grandmothers and their grandchildren about spending a fun summer together. My grandson is only four, so he didn't appreciate this story as much as children 6 and up would. The illustrations are amazing. Each one looks like a watercolour that could be framed and hung on a wall. They are gorgeous. A great picture book for any library.
