The darkest of the mysteries, with the most troubling aspects and unsettling end. But Nava is maturing as a writer, and this is the best in the series so far.

Very satisfying conclusion to the Henry Rios novels. The "happily ever after" is a bit too pat, and frankly I'm sorry to see the story end, as I'd like to see Henry learn to have a family and to have prestige.

A strange, out-of-place supernatural moment kicks this one off. But overall, the pieces click together somewhat more neatly in this story.

I like seeing the flaws in Henry's character emerge. Up to this point, he's seemed a little saintly: flawed by his alcoholism and his new sobriety. But here we see his temper, and the limits to his self-control and empathy.

A dark story, exploring the lines between homosexuality and pedophilia, but maybe one of the most interesting in the series.
