*A Thank you to Edelweiss for allowing me to read this. This is my honest and unbiased review*

Hello Fellow Readers,

I don't mean to start off negative but unfortunately, I just didn't like this comic. Now not everything is negative there were some positives. The premise is very interesting and had a lot of potential, if the story went longer I could see myself really getting invested. Also, the artwork was good, and I love the use of different colors and art styles.

Now, while I did like the premise to the story everything just felt incredibly rushed, which was very frustrating for me. The characters were also a bit lackluster and I had no interest in them. Most (except Abby) were underdeveloped or I just did not like them. I really wish that we were able to get to know the characters more but alas we didn't. So I felt a very distinct disconnect from it.

Overall, Not for me but maybe for you.

So at my review of Batman: Knightfall, Part One: Broken Bat* I summarized the Broken Bat storyline, and in this one I’ll summarize the Who Rules the Night storyline.

So after Batman’s back is broken, he is rushed to the Batcave where Alfred takes care of him. For some reason then there’s a story that takes place three weeks earlier about Batman and Robin capturing Two-Face, but it’s not necessary. So Robin gives the cape and cowl to no one other than the religious sect assassin who was trained from birth to be an avenging angel, A.K.A Jean-Paul Valley. I will be calling him AzBats. So he goes out and fights some people, and then Scarecrow who wants to be a god or something. Scarecrow’s fear gas makes the subliminal messaging from the Order of St. Dumas (known as The System) to start to take hold. So he gets the brilliant idea to banish Robin forever and create CLAWS for himself. So he goes out, fights some more, people, and then attempts to take on Bane. He fails, so he immediately makes a super crazy mecha-batsuit. He fights Bane, succeeds and bam. It’s over.

*I own Knightfall Part One, and I checked out Knightfall Vols. 1-3 at the library.

This is an oddly conceived collection for a pair of reasons. Firstly, Batman is barely in it. Sneeze and you'll miss the few panels he's in. Obviously they stuck his name on the cover in hopes to sell more copies. Second, we start with the origin story of Bane; a dark, gripping story based almost entirely in a fictional South (or is it Central?) American jail, and then the second half of the book jumps to a time *much* later in Bane's history with a multitude of references to what came in-between. Yes, the in-between that's not in this book. So unless you're up on your Bane continuity, prepare to be confused, as I was.

A very good story of Batman pushed to the end of his ropes, and beyond. I read several of these when they were printed first in the early 90's, and enjoyed them then. It is fun to read the whole series in one continuous line.
