Blood on the Tracks, Vol. 17 by Shuzo Oshimi
I know I'm angry at this series for its betrayal. The first half of it is an intense psychological thriller with volumes that earned four-star ratings from me and left me eager to read the next volume ASAP, but then the author writes himself into a corner and uses hallucinations, dream sequences and a time jump to turn the whole thing into a maudlin and depressing study in being whiny, pathetic losers. Bait and switch. This may be one of the biggest letdowns I've ever experienced in all my years of reading.… (more)

I'm so glad the next volume is the last.

Blood on the Tracks, Vol. 15 by Shuzo Oshimi
Mother and son come face to face after decades apart, and we finally get the origin story of the woman whose bizarre actions have driven everything in this series, and it's just so . . . blah. She's an introverted person with an aloof father and emotionally abusive mother finds herself unable to attain any of her own dreams or the ones societal norms pushes on her.

More confrontations and revelations are coming in the final two volumes, but I'm finding it so hard to care at this point.

Blood on the Tracks, Vol. 14 by Shuzo Oshimi
A reunion teased in the last volume fizzles, only to be replaced by another. In between, Seiichi flounders about in his mommy issues and the pointlessness of his life.

The thirtysomething version of Seiichi is so pathetic, it fritters away the compassion I had for the teenager who was so harmed by his monstrous mother.
