I like completing series. So the fact that I'm three books into this series but haven't rated any except the first one over 2 stars....I know I should have quit

but I just keep thinking things must get better. Or I just want to check this one off as finished.
Either way, this one was no different than the others. Everyone "sneers", no one is nice. Everyone just flies off in a rage, especially Ash. And no one is really anyone's friend. Everyone just looks at friendship as a way to gain footing or power - it's always a bargaining tool. At some point, all the anger and sneering and tempers and backstabbing, it just gets old.

I did like the name Joey. So there is that.

This took a while to get going
and didn't really explain a lot of stuff, but only made it more confusing.
Tatiana was an inconsistent main character who was nice and then awful, all in the same breath.

but the last 1/3 was pretty good and it was interesting to see the end of the series.

I'm kind of bummed. I'd looked forward to this book for a while, hoping to read it with friends and enjoy the story.

But, this wasn't a story I enjoyed. I liked the ending and even the mini little cliffhanger of wanting to know what comes next.

But at least 90% of this book, I liked no one. Not a single character. And I'm the type of reader that is a character driven reader. I like getting to know the people in the book and I like to like them. And if I don't like them, I like to at least understand them and what/why they are doing. Sadly, everyone in this book was awful. and not just to certain people but in general.

Callahan was the only exception. And Georgia. They were generally nice to everyone. Too bad they were just on a page or 2.
I'm not sure if I'll read book 3. Maybe with some reading buddies.

I thought this was a really cute book. I really loved the varying POV of Ash and Fin. I loved the idea of different color fins and how pretty the world underwater sounded. I really appreciated all the little details like the broken clothes when changing, the little bags on their backs, and houses with air (being more expensive).

But the religious parts were a huge surprise. Although they were pretty few, they still were surprising since they don't arrive until almost midway through the book.… (more)
