Adorable illustrations and excellent rhymes in this book. It was Lily's favorite bedtime book for quite a while.

"Hippo calf would kiss papa, then they'd settle down deep in the slithery ooze, a mud-happy heap." Fun to say!

Not to mention the rhinos "smooching their horns in a tip-a-tap rap."

Cute, but really wasn't as good as [b:If Animals Kissed Good Night|18465603|If Animals Kissed Good Night|Ann Whitford Paul|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1403534138l/18465603._SX50_.jpg|3087357]. The rhymes didn't flow quite as well. We passed it along.

because Kathryn and Michael liked it so much

Well, imo it's too syrupy, esp. the art. And the "If" in the title is key, because of course some animals do actually kiss goodnight, but generally not like we do. I think the elephants and wolves are probably pretty close though.

Hilarious take on one of my very favorite stories, Little Red Hen. I love the ending. (I always love endings that aren't about the spite of the traditional versions.)
