The woman behind the icon known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, the undisputed Queen of Halloween, Cassandra Peterson tells it all in her memoirs. She reveals intimate details about her upbringing, sexual escapades, rape, witnessing a murder, marriage problems, Hollywood failures, and everything in between. Of course, she also manages to make it fun and empowering.

I hadn’t thought much about Peterson or Elvira, but I’m now a massive fan! She is hardworking and proves that if you can achieve great things. She’s sexy, smart, queer and spins a good story.

And boy, oh boy, did this woman meet and hang out with some famous people! Kissing Elvis, sleeping with Tom Jones just to name a few. Often, memoirs can feel like it’s not the voice of the person, but reading this book, you can tell she wrote it. It’s campy. It’s sassy.
