Hah! I like Krabbit, and the meta beginning. As another reviewer points out though, it's "lacking in substance." A little workmanlike, a little by-the-numbers. Either you need another leveled reader about eccentric friends or you don't... if you do, check this out.

In my opinion: Pointless. Just the lyrics, and lame art with lame jokes. As usual, we don't know who the true love is. At least they weren't gifted cumulatively... some kids want to extend the joke to 12 partridges in pear trees etc.

Well, I'd hoped that it would be about someone like me, who checks out a couple of dozen books a week from the library, or someone like some of my friends, who collect treasured books for their home libraries, but it's not quite either of those. It's fine, nonetheless. But the best part is the drawing of the Date Due slip on the endpaper. :heart: for nostalgia.

Retro art is only kind of appealing. Loose end would've bothered child me no end. Go ahead, Greg, tell the kiddies that they'll either digest the seeds or poop them out. That is to say, if you can even find a watermelon with seeds anymore.
