Reviewed for the VPRC. Found this book very hard to read but I did finish it! The ideas contained within are good - a world of rising sea with floating worlds and no land where one man is trying to set mythical monsters against the worlds to create a war where he will become the victor of all. (It took three quarters of the book to get to this understanding.) The only person who could stop him is a girl called Annie Tidechild, and we only know this from a prophecy.

Now here are my complaints :
1. Too many characters.
2. Too much jumping around and poor descriptions of the action ( found myself re-reading parts over and over to try and work out what the author meant.)
3. Actual spacing of conversations is wrong - there should have been a new line for each characters' dialog instead of 2 characters dialog appearing on the same line so you think only one person is talking.

This book needed a SERIOUS edit!!! PUFFIN has dropped the ball. I am very reluctant to recommend it as a VPRC book due to poor editing.… (more)
