Not only does the slave girl, Adella, understand Sir John’s dragon, but she can even feel his hunger pangs. She hears the thoughts and can speak to the mind of other animals too.

Dragon tries to protect Adella from a mean boy. The actions of Adella and dragon spiral out of control and they must flee to live. She pretends to be a boy, sees battle, makes friends, goes on a quest, and finds truths about herself she never knew.

Roelke delights with her gentle way of weaving basic truth into her story by means of excellent writing skills. Many of her phrases enhance our senses allowing us to “smell butter and honey like a breakfast perfume.” A great read for any tween girl or dragon lover.… (more)
