LFL find. Sorry, even after reading other careful, mostly glowing, reviews, this just isn't clicking for me. I won't rate it though because I imagine I'm missing something.

Old-fashioned, in the best way. I fully expected to learn that this is a reissue with a modern illustrator, but no. If you miss the older Golden Books, p'raps for example [a:Eloise Wilkin|5313|Eloise Wilkin|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1540684938p2/5313.jpg], you'll probably like this.

Otoh, not all that special, & rather forgettable. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Another riff on the theme that very different people can be very good friends. Not as well done, imo, as some others... or maybe they just get tiresome to me. I cannot imagine what Fox gets out of this friendship besides many many chances to exercise patience.....

Maybe if Bear had helped Bee with some of his tasks, they would have gotten done faster and had time to play together. And they would have been together while doing the chores.

That's how I raised my kids. And if your kid's friend says "I can't play until my room is clean" your kid should automatically offer to help.

Given that objection, the story works on it's own merits just fine, except now it's boring actually.
