This book is about 25 gymnastics tips, skills, and tricks that you can use or learn to get better at gymnastics. First you need to have good body shape. When performing tricks you should keep your body and arms straight. Gymnasts perform passes to show balance, grace, and agility. Also when you are doing tricks you want to keep your body center. Some basic rolls are forward and backward rolls. Most acrobatic skills come from a cartwheel and a handspring. When you are vaulting you need to have contact with the table and make sure you keep everything straight. When you get ready to land you separate your legs a little and bend your knees slightly to soften the impact. You try not to take any extra steps and if you don't this is called sticking the landing. On bars you mount the bar with a spring board and a basic skill called a kip. When you are on the bars you can do challenging skills like a pirouette which is switching your hands around on the bar while swinging. Beam is a 16 feet long, 4 feet high, and 4 feet wide. You perform tricks and spins on it. There is a specific way you hold your hands when performing skills. These were facts on gymnastics that people could use to get better.

For this book I gave it a four in a half because it was very good tips and skills that could help people with gymnastics. The half that kept me from scoring a five was that some of skills could have been more advanced and split into different sections. I liked the book because it was on gymnastics and it was very interesting to learn how to shape your body and how to keep you body hollow and straight when performing skills.½

In the book, Dwight Howard, the book starts off by saying how Dwight was a miracle child. His mother had seven miscarriages before she was able to have Dwight. Dwight developed a passion for basketball at a young age. He often played with an older age group rather than his own. He went on to be the first player drafted in the NBA draft in 2004. He became a premier player right away.

I enjoyed reading this biography about Drew Brees for many reasons. First, I liked how this book was organized. On the first page, was a table of contents which was very helpful to me because it helped me find sections of the book that I wanted to read about. I also liked the text features such as bolded words to identify key vocabulary words. The book also provided a glossary at the end which helped me get a better understanding of what those terms meant. In addition, I liked how this book used text boxes that had information about Drew Brees that I did not know about. Overall, the purpose of this book was to provide the reader with information about Drew Brees the football player.

I liked this book because it was about racing. I like all books about racing. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was good at racing because his dad raced against each other.½

I like Travis Pastrana because he is a dirt biker, and I would like to be a dirt biker. When he was 4, he had a dirt bike. His father made him a dirt track and most of the day, he was zooming around the track.½

This biography is about Mark McGwire, who is a famous baseball player from the Saint Louis Cardinals. His greatest achievement was the amount of home runs he achieved. This book plots his career as a baseball player. The author incorporates a small amount about McGwires personal life.
I remember hearing a lot about McGwire on television while his career. I like that this book gives good information to learn about McGwire. There are some really good illustrations, pictures of McGwire playing baseball and him personally. I used to live in Saint Louis, this book is personally interesting for me because I love the Cardinals.
Having students go outside and play baseball would be a good relation to this story. Having students write about a memory of sports in their life, or a baseball story would also be a good extension to this book.
