I just want to start by saying, I would have read this as an entire novel instead of simply a fifty-page novelette. It was that good.

This book really resonated with me because I understand being in a relationship similar to Lauren's before she met Cooper. In fact, I understood Lauren so much that everything she discussed, from feeling like no one would ever truly love her to feeling pretty worthless, I understood because I had been there. Even though my relationship had been slightly different from her and Jason's emotionally destructive one, I understood it. I knew Lauren's pain.

And I was glad she had been able to find someone who understood her pain. Someone who would be there to always help her.

Sometimes I fear I won't find someone like that myself. It's a truly scary thing to think no one will ever love you. But enough about me. Back to the story.

Lauren had been in an emotionally abusive relationship with a guy named Jason for years. It wasn't a relationship either should have been in. When Lauren met Cooper and began falling for him, she began to wonder if Jason had ever really even loved her. We're not told too much about Jason and Lauren's relationship, but we did see what Lauren went through when she began to recede into her memories. Anxiety attacks would kick in, but Cooper was always there to pull her out and help her. He tried what he could to keep her in the here and now. Same for Lauren with Cooper. In a way, they're each other's angels. They keep each other leveled.

Can I have my own Cooper? I want a guy who understands and loves me as he does Lauren.

I received a free copy of this and volunteered to review it. Thank you so much again, Aimee!
