This book picked up right where the first book had ended. If you have read the first book, then you know it ended on a pretty intense scene. That intensity definitely carried over in this first scene. After that, things went back and forth in the story for me.
I struggled with the immaturity of the characters and their interactions. It lacked the authenticity of the a true mafia style romance. It was there but it wasn't if that makes sense. I wanted the story fleshed out more because there were several parts that lacked the depth that I felt should have been in a book of this sub-genre. However, the story still kept my attention but it could have been so much more. I enjoyed the steamy times as they were intense and written well but would have liked there to have been more substance surrounding those moments.
Still, I am glad I finished this duet to get the answers I needed.… (more)
