Great little book. I'd like to echo every word that the reviewer 'hlings' has written. I thought that it may be useful for a non-student to give a review.
I read history as a hobby and was given this as a present. It is clear and easy to follow without being overly simplistic, certainly from the point of view of the interested and reasonably intelligent layman.

I now know what the main drivers behind unification were, what the component states were like and what influence was wielded by Italy's neighbors and the key protagonists, e.g. di Cavour and Garibaldi - all thanks to these ~120 pages.… (more)
