Very imaginative and cool art in this book in white, black, and yellow.

A cumulative tale in which we meet a little girl in a house full of light in the night with a book with a bird in it with a song in the bird and the night and the stars in the song and OMG!

I liked all of the beauty that was inside of the book-within-the-story, but it was a little random. I thought it was odd until I read that the author is a poet, then I understood that it wasn't just simplistically random, but very poetic.… (more)

This book is a slightly poetic layout of things associated with bedtime. It follows a young child getting to bed and reading a book with a bird in it. This book could be used very well in a classroom before rest/nap time, and also to educate about bedtime habits and poetry of sorts.

At nighttime, we go into the heart of the house, then zoom back out to see the house in the context of the night. Follows a structure reminiscent of "And the Green Grass Grows All Around". Illustrated evocatively in black, white, and warm yellow.

This is a beautiful and simple bedtime story. The best part, in my opinion, is the page where it says "Here is the key to the house" and it shows the mother kissing her sleeping child. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, but I think the key is love. And because the house is filled with love, it is also a "home full of light."
