I am still trying to figure out how one can take such a fascinating person and turn his extraordinary life into a barely tolerable dry history. In three volumes, no less.

I will give credit for thorough research into the history. The narrator was perfect for this story.

The apology at the beginning for use of language common at the time this took place was disappointing - especially since it was not overdone or gratuitous.
