A great read if you are interested in the more technical side of Jamaican music- which is actually pretty low-tech. But that is it's magic. The producers made the most out of very little and in many cases created new forms out of experiments with lo-fi tech.

If you love dub, read this.

I had wished for more history and biography. Veal tends to speculate on sociological aspects of the music. Veared toward the academic in a book that should be informative and fun.
