Duchess by Chance (Regency Rakes, #1) by Wendy Vella
I was hoping for a plain heroine and a bit more angst, but I still enjoyed it. Eva starts out as a bit of a Mary Sue but ends the book a tad bloodthirsty - her character arch (as well as the hero’s transition from hostility to love) didn’t quite land for me, to be honest. But definitely had elements that I enjoyed! Not going on the abused heroine shelf only because Eva doesn’t really seem traumatized by her father and brothers’ awfulness, it’s more a plot point.
