This is a cute book to engage young children learning about the winter. It focuses on squirrel and his friends, specifically where they sleep. The different homes are shown with the animal either sleeping, getting ready to sleep or getting sleepy. The illustrations are bright and colorful making them visually appealing. Each page has a snowdrop as well as a robin and the children are encouraged to find it as they read. This highly interactive book that would work well as a read aloud in large and small groups. The different foods are all different colours as well and we end up with the rainbow at the end. The illustrations are bright and colorful making them visually appealing. Each page has a red toadstool with white dots and the children are encouraged to find it as well as answering an additional question.
