Francis Vivian

An interesting police procedural from the 1940’s. A local doctor, prominent in village affairs, is found strangled in his dispensary.

There are four main suspects and a lot of family skeletons in closets. Author Vivian expertly leads the reader up one garden path and down another until the final, quite surprsising ending.

Well done, with good characterization despite some mild misogyny.
