Oh, dear. This sounded so promising. A book that combines history with food. But after reading the first few pages I have problems. Bread for the Last Supper would not have been raised. Passover! (There is some question as to whether this meal was really a Seder, but she doesn't bring that up when discussing what the main course was and explaining that it would have been lamb.)

p46 1/2 cup butter is not 80g, but more like 110-115g.

And where it's not obviously inaccurate, it's just boring. The title is inaccurate as well. These dishes did not change the world. Not only are most of the events not really earth shattering, it wouldn't have made any difference if a totally different menu had been served.… (more)
