Description | Louis Trezevant Wigfall (1816-1874): American politician. Born in South Carolina, he became a lawyer and a noted deulist, killing a political rival before moving to Texas in 1848. He became a Senator for that state, then became a Confederate general after secession. He joined the Confederate congress in 1862, but neither his military nor his political career was as successful as he believed. After the war he briefly fled to England, then returned to Texas. |
