Description

(Legendary character) Ototachibana was the loyal wife of Yamato Takeru. She accompanied him on his expeditions, and her beauty suffered from this, causing her husband to regard her with scorn. On one trip, Yamato's boasts angered Rin-jin, King of the sea and the flotilla was caught in a storm, until Ototachibana offered herself as a sacrifice to placate Rin-Jin. In belated appreciation of his wife's devotion, Yamato Takeru, built a tomb for her and his mourning for his wife caused Eastern Honshu to be called Adzuma.
