About My Library

My library is currently in a bit of disorder... just a little bit.... due to a long-distance move that necessitated downsizing my paper book collection. I was doing a good job of keeping track of which books I was donating and/or giving to friends, but towards the end I'm afraid I was less organized about things. So I'm in the process of finding out which books I still have and which have flown away. Anyway, this is where I keep track of books I own.

My rating system:

- DNF - you call this a book?? rubbish bin donate/giveaway/get it out of my sight
- didn't like the book - donate/give away
- finished the book, but skimmed most of it. Didn't like it. Donate/give away
- read the book, didn't hate it but didn't like it either. Donate/give away
- read the book, it had some interesting bits but not enough to make it an interesting read. If it's part of a series, I'll might read the next book and see if there's an improvement. May be an eventual donation/give away book.
- an enjoyable read, but might have skimmed a little bit. Will donate/give away if I need to weed out the shelves.
- solid memorable read; would recommend to friends and family. Donate/give away if I won't be rereading the book.
- Really enjoyed the book; keeper and would probably reread in future. Reluctant to donate but might lend to family/friends.
- Very good book and you'd have to twist my arm to lend it out.
- Life-long favourite book - the books in this range will probably fluctuate as I get older - what I considered a life-long favourite when I was a teenager, may not resonate with me as much when I'm in my 30s, 50s or older

About Me

Even though I'm a very slow reader, I love to read - cookbooks, travel books, fiction, mystery, sports - but my favourites are mysteries. I keep a separate account for my wishlist of books - kaikamana - so I don't get all confused.
