Loading... You Are the Best Medicine (edition 2010)by Julie Aigner Clark, Jana Christy (Illustrator)This book is incredibly appropriate for children who have a parent living with cancer. However, it was not appropriate for my family. My 4 year old is a little too young to understand what cancer is but that didn't keep her from asking questions. I cried while reading the book. I would buy this book for a fellow mom friend if she was diagnosed with cancer and wasn't sure how to talk to her children about it. Pros: This book appropriately explains to children what to expect when their parents have cancer. There's more to our review. Visit The Reading Tub®. It is helpful for both mother and a child as it tells about something might happen to any one, and teaches how children to be helpful in such a situation like that. at the same time shows how they valued with their hugs, kiss and wonderful wards. children age 3-8 source: Pierce College library This book is from the perspective of a mom with cancer talking to her daughter. The book is generally about the mom explaining that through everything such as chemotherapy, surgery, and hair loss, the best medicine she could possibly have is her daughter. She shows this by recalling memories of the two of them together through the birth of her daughter until the present day. It ends on a loving note with them together and gives hope for the future. Appropriate for ages 4-6. (Pierce College Fort Steilacoom library) |
