A book that - supposedly - helps people listen for God's voice, and develop a better relationship with him. Some good points, though a bit repetitive in places. ( )

This is a book that explains, in detail and in plain language, what it looks like for a Christian to have a relationship with the living God. Blackaby does a great job at laying out the basics of how we can "experience God" in our lives right here on earth, right now. If you are under the impression that Christianity is all about saying a little prayer so you can go to heaven when you die, you absolutely NEED to read this book. It will blow your mind!

In fact, I firmly believe that EVERY believer should read and own a copy of this book. ( )

A basic book for Christians using the Bible to discern a ministry in the church and moving toward to that end. This is very helpful for gradually coming to a definitive choice to leave secular society and envisioning the leadership which Jesus asks for all leaders and ministers. Many examples of questions, answers, and situational resolutions from the authors' own personal experiences. I have used Chapter 9 (God Invites You to Join Him) in sermons as samples for looking for concrete ways God is active in people's lives. Very helpful for beginners to read and be bolstered in their spiritual journey bound by the Bible and set on a future course toward some essential ministry.

Overall, I thought this study was a good one, although I didn't buy into all that was mentioned. I had some issues with some of the statements that are a reflection of their denominational background, but I still got a lot of good information and food for that in this study. I would recommend it. ( )

Blackaby's writing style is like Bolero by Ravel. It just expresses, builds and repeats. There is a rhythm to it. He presents a truth, builds on it, repeats it, presents another related truth, builds on it, repeats it, repeats the first truth, and on and on and on. You are drawn in. He presents real and compelling stories, examples and scripture to reinforce the truths he reveals. I have read this book more than once -- taught from it at least once. Never grows old. ( )

Very possibly the best Bible study I have done. Total life changer. Such a way of bringing basic truths to Life in way you want to experience and not just read about our Lord. Don't hesitate Get it Do it! ( )

A very thorough 13 week course designed to be used in a group study setting. However, I am doing this on my own and have benefited from the different direction the authors take in their approach to conversing with God and learning to let God work through you. ( )

I worked through the workbook years ago with friends from church. This book pretty much mirrors the workbook and presents it in a readable, book format. Content is pretty much the same. Having said that, this is an awesome book. Presenting ways in which we can know God's will and then how to go about doing God's will. This is one that any Christian should read and I for one was encouraged by it and am now "hearing" God speak to me each day in many ways. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to experience God fully. ( )

Outstanding in concept and perspective. I did get impatient with the rather simplistic writing style, which becomes boring after a while; but the content is extraordinary and certainly gives food for thought. It also clarifies many things about walking with God. ( )

". . . we do not find God's will - it is revealed. God always takes the initiative." ( )

This remarkable book will help any believer renew and revitalize his love for the Lord by seeing His love for us. Experiencing God is designed to help each of us recognize our own personal relationship with God as He reveals His divine plan and guiding hand. Even as we try to understand Him, God comes alongside us to accomplish His work through us.
