Loading... Improv Nation: How We Made a Great American Art (edition 2017)by Sam Wasson (Author)I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, and received the book (an ARC, which I didn't expect) in mid-January 2018. Improv is a topic I am interested in, so I expected to enjoy the book. I gave up ten and-a-half pages in because Wasson's writing style got on my nerves. He started out with Viola Spolin, then suddenly launched into Del Close's story. Then he abruptly returned to Viola Spolin. And that was just in the first five pages. Usually I give a book at least fifty pages, but despite the fact that I felt obligated to read the whole thing and give what would likely have been a more balanced review, I just couldn't do it. |
