Loading... The Last God (2019) #1 (edition 2019)by Phillip Kennedy JohnsonThis is the complete antithesis to what I just wrote about in my review for Joe Hill's Basketful of Heads. You have a serviceable writer, and a good artist, but the reader has a shit ton of story thrown at them in a very few pages. We're introduced to several characters, we're given a history on how one of them killed a god, then we're brought forward to where that guy is at, we get to see some of the politics, we're given a brief sense of the god killer's wife's role, shown more of the burden the god killer is carrying, and we're introduced to a slave warrior who's far too loyal for his own good. A good, and intriguing story, but this should have been spread over at least three issues. The pacing is far too rushed, and I have zero interest in continuing, despite the lovely art. |
