Miles of Smiles (edition 2016)by Karen Kaufman Orloff (Author), Luciano Lozano (Illustrator)In this story a mother and her two young kids go on a journey to spread their smiles with everyone. The baby first smiles at the mother the mother then smiles at a first grade teacher and the teacher then passes it on to one of her students. These smiles then set off a chain reaction. Eventually by the end of the story the smile chain reaction ends back at the baby who started the smile chain reaction in the first place. This book goes to show how small acts like a smile or paying it forward in some way can change someones perspective or the course of their day. At the same time it also highlights the importance of these small acts. It sends a good message to young readers who read this story of a "smile train" and how small acts can end up impacting many people. |
