Loading... Only One You (edition 2006)by Linda Kranz (Author)This book is perfect for primary readers. It includes a positive message about being unique and making the world a better place, leaving it better than you found it. It can be used during a science lesson or when teaching about social justice. I also think that it has a lot of pictures for kids to look at and dissect. It is easy to read and not very text heavy. This is a great book to talk about diversity in the classroom. Is about parents (fish) that are swimming around the ocean to teach their child about the uniqueness of others and himself. I think is a great way of introducing self-love and uniqueness in the classroom and to teach about respect no matter how we look in the outside. I really loved this book, I would recommend to all young children. The illustrations are also fantastic! Adri is ready to go out into the world and Mama and Papa feel it is time to share some words of wisdom. Readers of all ages can relate to the advise given by Papa to Adri about individualism and being a good person. The author uses realistic pictures of the ocean in addition to colorful painted rockfish to create interest. This book is in English and Spanish so it can be used in Language arts to teach similarities and differences in languages. This book can also be used to teach art concepts, as well as teaching science like the behaviors of fish. Little Adri is a fish about to go out into the world, before he can go though his parents want to pass on some wisdom. They teach him lessons in individuality, acceptance, being a friend, and overall focus on using who you are and what you have to make the world a better place. This book is illustrated with painted rock fish that swim across the page full of color and pattern. Only One You By…Linda Kranz In my opinion, this is a great book. This book talks about the lessons parents share with their kids. The author emphasized the big idea of individuality and the respect that parents deserve. I liked how the author showed how each individual can be unique and have the power to make their own decisions. I also really liked how the author engaged the readers in a way that taught the importance of acceptance and friendships, regardless of physical differences. I found this book to be inspiring for readers and helped teach them how to build confidence. I liked how Kranz talked about the idea that sometimes people need to stand out, while other times they need to fit in. The message conveyed was very special and meaningful. The author included beautiful, colorful, and bright illustrations as well as inspirational quotes in the front and back of the book. This book addresses a deep love between parents and their child. Adri’s mama and papa provide their son with powerful advice and share how he can make the world a better place. I think his parents do a fantastic job inspiring him to explore the sea of life. Kranz created lively characters that young readers would be able to make meaningful connections with. Also, I loved the ending when Adri’s mama kissed him on the top of his head and said, “There’s only one you in this great big world, make it a better place.” This young boy’s parents support him in a way that encourages him to go on an adventure around the world. In addition, I liked how the language was concise and entertaining for individuals of all ages. This book follows the story of a mama and papa "rockfish," who are giving their son Adri lessons on life while swimming around in the deep blue sea. This is a good book because the illustrations show that each "rockfish" is different from one another, it gives them animation and voices, and it applies to real fish, but they are painted rocks that are "fish" in the story. Illustrations: Rock painting, watercolor and acrylic paintings (what it looks like) Genre: Fantasy Age Appropriateness: Primary In Only One You, the picture book is filled with a lot of bright colors and kept me entertained while reading the book. In the book, the parents are teaching their young son that their is only one of him. He needs to try to make the big world a better place. The parents try to give him so advice and wisdom on their experience to hopefully help him a guide as he grows up and ventures out. There is only one of you in the world and you need to make a difference in the world. I thought this book was a very good read as a teacher. We want the kids to understand their is only one of them and each of them are special and can do anything they set their mind too. They can go and change the world with some encouragement and wisdom given to them from parents or educators. Only One You by Linda Kranz is an early reader. In the classroom this book would be a great thing to use to be able to let children know about themselves and have high self-esteem. I think it’s important for young children to learn these things especially at a young age. In this early reader, a young boy, Adri goes and explores the world. As he explores, his mother and father share their words of wisdom with him. Though their words and simple, they are powerful and very meaningful to him as he explores.
