This was my first time reading this author. I wasn't sure what to expect. It started pretty brutal. I felt for Kinsley. I'm not sure how she didn't become a shell of a person after three years. I will admit that I did struggle with certain parts of this story. It just didn't seem plausible. It was hard to imagine her being okay with Stag in a physical way, especially, with the way it was portrayed at how bad her body was physically. I also struggled with why it took three years to finally put the pieces together. That aside, I did like the connection and loyalty that this MC had.

It ended with a sneak peak of what is to come. That was very promising. I'm curious to see if the resolution and revenge for what had happened with Kinsley will be answered in the next book.

This will definitely hit the spot for MC romance lovers that like their motorcycle clubs grittier and more inclined to the 1% lifestyle. ( )

Dark fantasies exist…they honestly do…if YOU don’t have them then…perhaps move on. That said…if you do…make sure you check the trigger warnings that come with this book because it is not an easy read.

Why…

Well:
* This is after all a 1% MC Biker series and the guys are not necessarily all goodness and light
* 1%-ers might have some gold in them BUT it is not always shiny, bright, and easily visible
* The pain experienced by those on the receiving end is explicit and excruciating

I enjoy a dark steamy story from time to time and this fit the bill. I also enjoy reading new-to-me authors. I prefer MC series that are dark and gritty more than the ones with the brothers not as violent…not sure why…but this book delivered and I felt the men were definitely portrayed as people that would be there for one another, protect those they considered family, and wouldn’t mind breaking a few rules while dealing out their version of justice.

Kinsley was one strong young woman who endured more than anyone should have to. I felt for her and hoped she would eventually get away. I liked Stag as her partner because he would protect and love her and was the type of man she grew up with. They seemed to be made for one another.

As this is the beginning of a series I have a feeling more than one of the bikers will find their Old Lady and I look forward to reading the books when they come out. The hook at the end of this book does lead me to think the next book will be a doozy.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
