This book is a young readers book (3) that teaches kids about emperor penguins. I like that this topic can be used strictly for science but could also be used to tie into some conversations about differences in families or cultures. I would use this book as a classroom resource (in my classroom library for kids to read) but I don’t think I would use it explicitly for science instruction. But I might use it and then talk about how male penguins take care of their babies and tie that into a cultural lesson, or into a lesson about how families are different to etach kids that diversity is good.
