As always the book did not disappoint.
Yes, there is incest..yes there are things that some people find disgusting but the whole thing I find interesting is that V.C. Andrews never disappoints.
It always brings me back and now that I am older and actually reading some of these books for the first time I am at a level that I find myself seeing some of the things in a different light.
I loved Dawn and thought that more times than one she showed a backbone that few others would have shown in her situation. So I admired that. I believe that there were a lot of loop holes that were in the story like why did Dawn's father take her to the school when "he" knew who Phillip was??
It was like he wanted for the situation to be bad.
Although there were loopholes the book was a terrific read and again showed me why I love and will continue to love V.C. Andrews. ( )

Dawn was an excellent book when I was younger - now not so much. I will always remember that I kept reading the beginning of the book, enchanted by how Andrews wrote. She was a likeable character pushed into some strange situations, classic Andrews. ( )

I do not recommend this series unless you enjoy soap operas and you’re most recent favourite show just got cancelled, and maybe then you will find this to your liking. ( )

I don't know why I ever try to read serious books. It should be all V.C. Andrews, all the time. It's like watching an episode of Maury Povich or Jerry Springer, only better because you're reading it and improving your mind at the same time!

Dawn is exactly like Heaven (from V.C. Andrews' Casteel series) except she's blonde instead of brunette and lives in Richmond, Virginia instead of the West Virginia mountains. Everything else the same -- dirt-poor upbringing, secret wealthy parents, mean girls at school, unnatural love for brother and a hateful, slutty sister.

On the very first page, we learn that the 14-year-old Dawn and her 16-year-old brother Jimmy, share a bed. In the second chapter, there is some inappropriate nudity and longing glances. But, like all V.C. Andrews books, nothing is quite what it first appears to be...

I don't care if this series is the trashiest series on earth, it's still pretty dang entertaining to read! ( )

Just like any other VC Andrews book, same plot line.
Incest, rape, rags to riches. ( )

I devoured a lot of V.C. Andrews books when I was in 7th and 8th grade. Looking back, I'm not entirely sure what I saw in them. Nevertheless, they do have an addicting quality of sorts.

Dawn is no different from the other early Andrews books; incest, a callous grandmother, adoptive parents and a secret past all feature prominently. There is nothing really that sets this book apart.

For those looking for more V.C. Andrews books after Flowers, I recommend trying the Melody series. They are a bit less predictable and more endearing than Dawn. ( )

Sigh, can't recommend this book, when I read I should have known better. Read only of you haven't read anything from VC Andrews, and even then I'd advise you read Flowers in the Attic instead. ( )

shattered illusions, tender dreaams; a young girls desperate yearning for home and family. It was all I could do to put it down and attend to some of my "wifely" duties! ( )
