Here we have the tale of Kafka and his last lover, Dora Dymant. Their attraction for each other is immediate and intense. Kafka is already ill.
Once the two finally manage to move to Berlin together (pages 11-84), the reader waits for Kafka to die (pages 87-235). This, unfortunately, makes for a static read. Fortunately, Kumpfmüller writes with great feeling and precision.
I would be interested to read another work by Kumpfmüller where he is not so constrained by historical fact. ( )

Ontroerende lectuur. ( )
