I have just completed a two year block of University Study and my time has been considerably freed up now. Reading and consolidating my existing languages will be on my agenda for 2012, but I believe I have the time to sneak in the beginnings of learning Gàidhlig.
I think I'm going to start with the TY book and audio and complement this with the Everyday Gaelic book.
Bliadhna mhath ùr!

Bliadhna Mhath Ur, LesMis - and everyone! Congratulations and well done on finishing your Master's.
Welcome to the world of learning Gaelic! Do keep us posted - I am happy for the occasional consult, if needed. I would also reccommend getting a couple of books for young children, and reading real Gaelic books as soon as possible.
Did anyone get Gaelic books for Christmas? Do any reading over the holidays? No, me neither - but I am full of good intentions for the New Year. Please can I beg you (yes, you!) to make one posting on this site by the end of January? Most of the existing threads can still be responded to, and I will post at least once a week in January. It is hard to keep going with almost no response, but, by the same token, ANY response is very encouraging - at least I know someone is reading this!
Leughadh sona agaibh uile 's na Bhliadhn' Uire!
Happy Gaelic reading in the New Year!

Came across this on a useful site bursting with information about about Scottish Books, including Gaelic ones, at
http://www.booksfromscotland.com/
Bestselling Gaelic Books in 2011
1.An Gruffalo
2.Air Do Bhonnagan A Ghaoil
3.Gnothach Annasach An Dr Jekyll Is Mhgr Hyde
4.Tocasaid 'Ain Tuirc
5.An Claigeann aig Damien Hirst
I have No.s 3 and 5 - I have read No. 3, a graphic novel, and most of 5, which is a collection of short stories.
Any of your books on there? Any you'd nominate for "best Gaelic read of 2011"?
