Creating a general discussion thread for the group read of Bacigalupi's The Windup Girl. I have picked up my copy from the library and look forward to reading and discussing it.
ETA: Spoiler thread to discuss the book in detail is Here.

Thanks for setting up the thread, Lori. I will probably be starting to read The WindUp Girl during the second week of March. Looking forward to it.

I just put in a request for this at the library. Hopefully there won't be a long wait. It will be a reread for me. I loved it the first time and I look forward to paying better attention to the details.

Thanks for setting up this thread Lori. This book has been on my shelf for the past year, and I look forward to getting to it. I have several group reads going on in March, so not sure when I'll join in, but I'll be there!

I was just notified that a copy is waiting for me at my wonderful county library. Will stop in after work to pick it up.

I am on hold still but it looks like it will be a short wait so hopefully within the week I will get started.

I'm about five discs in to the audiobook.
I've been really enjoying the world-building.

I'm already about halfway through the book and paying much closer attention to who's who and what all the different factions represent. What I find so interesting is the focus of the individuals on their goals while watching over their shoulders to make sure they were avoiding attention from those many sources of danger.
I made an unfortunate connection in my mind. I pictured Mr. Anderson from the Matrix movies when reading about Anderson. I can't get his picture out of my head!

I finished W.G. this morning and enjoyed it as much if not more than the first time I read it since I took more time to understands all the forces in play.

I finished The Windup Girl this afternoon. I am not usually a fan of dystoian novels but have to say I found this one to be an engaging page-turner and one that generated some contemplative thoughts as I was reading it.
