What are we reading in April?

No joke, it's April already! What are you reading this month? I'm starting with The Time in Between by María Dueñas; I started it last month but still have about 500 pages to go!

I've started Heresy by Stephanie Merritt or SJ Parris. It seems to be confusing. It certainly confused me when I was searching for it at the Library. Also begun Eagle of the Ninth on my Sony e-reader.

I'm finishing up the first section of 2666 and getting ready to start The Headhunter's Daughter. I'm listening to Heresy, and I also found it confusing in the beginning. I'm close to halfway through now and it's beginning to make more sense.

I am reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens for a group read on the 75 Challenge, and, I have started The Running Vixen by Elizabeth Chadwick for the Reading Through Time Challenge.

in the country of last things has crossed over from March into April for me - should finish it tonight though...

I'm reading Buffalo West Wing and still working on Full Dark No Stars.

Two books that were 3/4 finished on March 31st were The Brass Verdict and Evil Eclairs.

I love Michael Connelly, but the Mickey Haller character hasn't grown on me yet, so far I prefer Harry Bosch. I do enjoy how Connelly crosses over his characters though.

I'm starting the month with The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and The Elegance of the Hedgehog for the group read and I still have an ER book hanging over my head to finish.

..I wonder how many times I'll mention that ER book before I finish it...must buckle down...

I've finished Gone 'til November by Wallace Stroby, an excellent noir-style crime novel set in central Florida and am now reading Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller and continuing with The Discovery of France by Graham Robb.

I'm starting the first book in Mike Carey's The Unwritten series, and will start my group read of Things fall apart after that - tomorrow I suppose.

Just finished The Hunger Games and now I have to ask myself if I should just carry on with the rest of the series. Probably will with how book 1 finished but I'll decide tomorrow or when I get the chance to pick up the next book to read.

10 - I read them straight through last week because I was so engrossed in the story and couldn't stand not knowing what happened next. Since my husband read them first, all the books were just sitting there waiting for me. :)

I just started an Early Reviewer Book, The Little Red Guard.

I've just started Burnt Shadows, good so far.

9 - nervous now we've bigged it up so much....

I've finished in the country of last things and I'm a little unsure of my feelings about it and have started the little sleep which is really rather good

10/11--I'm being forced to read the series slowly. The books belong to my daughter and she won't let me cut in front of her.

I started A Discovery of Witches which looks like it will be really good. However, I have also received notification that the last three of the Steven Saylor series are waiting for me at the library AND Amazon has shipped the latest of the Precious Ramotswe series. Oh, my!

Still trudging through The English Patient and have started The Elegance of the Hedgehog.

I finished the little sleep and the invention of morel which were both great, read about 50 pages of the hare with amber eyes this morning not gripped so far but it's generally got great reviews so assuming its a slow burner

I also started my TIOLI 12 months book A tragic night remembered - titanic 100 years - April 15, 1912 To April 15, 2012 which is an e-book and disappointingly doesn't seem to be proof read, not something to read all in one go I think as its mainly a collection of writings from people who survived the sinking so just dipping in occasionally

Started Things Fall Apart for the group read. I have no idea why I've not read this before, but that's what LT group reads are for, right? :)

I finished Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. I am currently reading The Little Red Guard (an ER book) and This Cold Heaven: Seven Seasons in Greenland.

Loved The Hunger Games series. I'm reading Persian Fire right now about the battle of Marathon, but just barely started it. Also reading No One Can Take Your Place.

I'm reading Shannon Hale's Midnight in Austenland.

I finished A Discovery of Witches this morning and ripped through The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection. Loved the second, not so much the first. Back to Gordianus, the Finder!

Reading the new(ly translated) Etgar Keret-book, Suddenly, a Knock on the Door, and he's still a genius!

Just finished Home to Harmony, but I'm not sure how to fit it in my challenge! Also reading House of Abraham.

I'm about to start Flatland, which looks like it might be fun.

I'm reading a bunch of books. Just finished a few YAs including Cinder and Blood Red Road. Currently have Oscar and Lucinda underway though it will be a slow read as I've also started Death of a superhero and Dark Warning by Marie Louise Fitzpatrick.

on an evolution kick I've read the origin of species and almost like a whale and just started on extinction

I'm reading The Solitary House and listening to Night, which I should finish in the car later today. Next up on audio is Pictures at an Exhibition.

When I decide to take a break from tearing through the Deborah Knott series that I am currently on, (they're addictive and I can't stop) I will read: Miss Muriel and Other Stories, Elegy for April and Half Broken Things.

I'm reading Before the Poison by Peter Robinson.

After finishing A Brief Madness this morning, I need something lighter and more coherent so I will pick up Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry and read it for my Plays category. Loved the movie and the review Dejah_Thoris wrote! After that, I have Things Fall Apart by Chinua Acheb and Gentlemen of the Road by Michael Chabon, both Group Reads this month, and I am still listening to The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom.

Finished A Mist of Prophecies and continuing to The Judgement of Caesar in the excellent series of Ancient Rome by Steven Saylor.

I have been tearing through Margaret Maron's Deborah Knott series, and have stopped myself at Rituals of the Season for now.

I picked up Elegy for April and Miss Muriel and Other Stories to read this week.

I am reading and enjoying All Shall Be Well by Deborah Crombie and I have started Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry.

I've started The Double Comfort Safari Club and Impeached (about Andrew Johnson) and enjoying both.

I'm giving up on Peter Robinson's Before the Poison for now...maybe I'll come back to it when I'm in the right mood. For now I'm reading Song of Scarabaeus by Sara Creasy.

I'm currently making progress on Oscar and Lucinda and just finished my April/May portion of Don Quixote for the group read. I'm also reading several YAs including Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu which I saw reviewed over in the 75 book group and just have to read.
I'm also reading a children's book, The Island of Thieves by Josh Lacey (for some reason the touchstone will only go to Reader's Digest Condensed Books 1995 v03 by Reader's Digest, no alternatives offered!).

I'm completely stalled on The English Patient but The Elegance of the Hedgehog is going well.

I'm having a great time with my first David Mitchell read - Cloud atlas. Very engrossing stuff!

I've just started The Marsh King's Daughter by Elizabeth Chadwick.

Gave up on Enchanted April. Way too much emphasis on the bloody flowers. How many times can you tell us the variety of flowers? HUH?

Beginning Faceless Killers and Sacrilege, the latter one is an ER book.

I'm half-way through Soulless and am enjoying it quite a bit, altough I could do with a tiny tad less panting and bosom-heaving.

David Mitchell is fantastic. Although it received mixed reviews, I loved Black Swan Green.

Having just finished Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, I'm now reading the first book in Ian Rankin's new detective series, The Complaints.

I'm reading God is Not One for one of my book clubs and In the Sanctuary of Outcasts for the other club. Am also plugging along with Martin Chuzzelwit as well.

I just finished reading Cotillion for a book club meeting next week, and just finished listening to Pictures at an Exhibition. Next up are Birdsong (print) and The Conquering Family (audio).

I love Cotillion! I'm reading The Glorious Cause by Jeff Shaara - loving it! I just finished Last Breath: Cautionary Tales and it was pretty disappointing.

oh I loved Black Swan Green although it that was in part as it reminded me of my childhood.

Just finished the extremely good noir/sci-fi Osama by Lavie Tidhar and now I am a bit at a loss what to read.. I was looking at the next tale in The dark philosophers by Gwyn Thomas.. although as dark isn't the word for the grim poverty and black humour of the 1st story I have to be in a good mood to read it.

Well I've finished Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, and Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese.

I'm still working on The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery and am starting Salt: A World History by Mark Kurlansky and Wings by Aprilynne Pike for the April TIOLI

I've finished Oscar and Lucinda and am still deciding what to make my next main read. Listening to the wonderful My family and other animals by Gerald Durrell and reading some more YA, Seahearts by Margo Lanagan, Hugh Brown's Reach and also The Trumpeter of Krakow.

I just started Lev Grossman's The Magicians and am worried that it'll be just a bit too derivative of Narnia/Harry Potter. Does anyone know if it takes on a personality of its own as the story continues?

Still plugging away at Hedgehog. Starting an audiobook of The Devil's Bed by William Kent Krueger. Looking forward to Packing for Mars and The Holy Road soon.

I gave up on Birdsong and moved on to The Boy Who Stole the Leopard's Spots. I'm still listening to The Conquering Family.

I finished The Little Red Guard (post 11 above) a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. Since then I also finished Escape from Camp 14 and The Handmaid's Tale. I'm glad to have read both.

I started The Graveyard Book yesterday.

I finished Sacrilege and must say that series keeps getting better.

Still reading Faceless Killers on my Sony ereader and debating what dead tree book to begin next.

I'm reading my first Rizzoli and Isles The Surgeon byTess Gerritsen and I am really enjoying it. I'm not sure what's next.

I am about to start The Holy Road by Michael Blake. This is the sequel to Dances With Wolves that I enjoyed so much last year. I am also reading Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork (love that name).

Just finished Faceless Killers which was a refreshing change, and now on to Stardust. The Last Kingdom is up after that.

I'm about halfway through Rick Riordan's The Last Olympian.

Instead of writing reviews I have finished Giant Thief and started The Tigers Wife by Tea Obreht

I'm forced to take a day's halt with the fabolous Cloud Atlas (I lost the damn book on a train!!!) and am in the meantime reading the potery of Tomas Tranströmer, this year's Nobel laureate. It's really good.

I'm reading My Samoan Chief as well as The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England. Still listening to The Conquering Family.

I've finished my April TIOLI Wings by Aprilynne Pike and am returning to The Elegance of the Hedgehog.

GingerbreadMan, losing a book partway through is the worst. And it's never a book you'd just as soon not finish, no, it's the ones we can't put down. You'd think we'd keep closer track of them!

I'm belatedly beginning The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery.

I finished the last book of the series that took place in 1st century BC Rome by Steven Saylor, The Triumph of Caesar, and I feel like I've completed a course and can now move on to regular reading. I also finished an ER, The Odditorium which was a collection of short stories. I am now reading another ER, The Boy Who Stole the Leopard's Spots and trying to finish Cinder, a YA fantasy.

Anders, take heart that at least you're passing on a good book for someone to read. Small comfort, I know, but hopefully it helps.

Finally catching up on LT today, have read the wonderful osama, the not so good a casual revolution and one i've been meaning to read for a while above the snowline this week and have just started survivors the animals and plants that time has left behind

I've just started Godric and I'm still reading The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England and should easily finish both by the end of the month. I'm not so sure about The Conquering Family. I'm not even halfway through yet. It might bleed over into May.

I finished Stardust yesterday, and have begun Blackbirds. Wow, talk about a difference!

I'm about to start the new Maisie Dobbs, Elegy for Eddie, I've been looking forward to it!

In the mood for a good crime novel, I picked up Tresspasser by Paul Doiron on a whim. It's good so far.

I LOVED Blackbirds. Violent but completely in keeping with the story. Quite the Thriller.

On to Dissolution and Midnight Tides

Picked up The Road to Jerusalem last night just for something different. I keep wondering how good a translation it is and what the Swedish version is like.

Still listening to The Holy Road and hope to finish Elegance of the Hedgehog shortly.

Started Gillespie and I and just had to pick up book #2 of the Montmaray Journals - it's YA but kinda fun. Also made a start on Margo Lanagan's Sea Hearts.

I finished Cinder (meh) and have caught up on my last ER, The Boy Who Stole the Leopard's Spots. I started reading Jar City which I have seen many LTers enjoy.

I just gobbled up Sophie Kinsella's I've Got Your Number, and now I'm starting The House at Tyneford by Natasha Solomons.

Just finished Song of Achilles and just starting Gillespie and I.

I'm eager to start on The Burglar in the Library with @jonesli.
I hope it's as enjoyable as The Burglar Who Thought He Was Bogart.

I think The Burglar in the Library might have been my favorite Bernie book. Hope you enjoy it!
