Another ARC: _Waking Up with a Rake_ by Connie Mason & Mia Marlowe, which is historical romance.

I ordered Gusto Italiano (originally published as Truly Italian), Real Fast Vegetarian Food, La Dolce Vita: Sweet Things from the Italian Home Kitchen, Truly Madly Pasta, and New Family Bread Book by Ursula Ferrigno, after finding Truly Italian in the library and thinking it was fabulous. Can't wait to get them and start trying new recipes!

Opened my wallet at the store the other day, and after the moths flew out I spent money on a new hardcover historical biography title: The Richest Woman in America by Janet Wallach.
And then my car broke down. I'm pretty sure the two things are related.

There was a charity book sale in my neighborhood in this weekend. I did damage.
I've been on a Trollope binge lately, and picked up several volumes:
The Small House at Allington, The Warden, The Last Chronicle of Barset, Rachel Ray, Orley Farm, Phineas Finn, The American Senator, and a collection, Novels and Stories.
I also got some Henry James:
Washington Square, The American, and The Bostonians.
Also:
Mardi Gras Mambo, by Greg Herren (an ARC)
Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett (finally getting around to this one, as Lyric Opera will be doing an opera based on it a couple of seasons from now)
Molly Ivins: A Rebel Life, by Bill Minutaglio and W. Michael Smith (She was one of my favorite people; I miss her tremendously, particularly during election season.)
The Prisoner of Heaven, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (another Cemetery of Forgotten Books novels)
Chronicles of the House of Borgia, by Frederick Baron Corvo
volume 1 of the Garzanti edition of Boccaccio's Decameron (in Italian)
and Viaggio del Cavalier Bernini in Francia, by Paul Fréart de Chantelou
Sadly, I was way too busy today to go back for their "$3 bag, $4 box" day. On reflection, however, that may have been a good thing. My goal had been to buy fewer books than I donated to the sale, but I failed.

After feeling sorry for myself and being inspired to get creative, I ordered Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper and The Ultimate Nap Book by Sark, a hardcover copy of I Am Half-Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley (because I wanted my series to match and I won an ARC of it - and I'm nuts), and two books by Alan Davies, Teenage Revolution and My Favourite People and Me: 1978-1988. I highly suspect that these are one and the same, but I'll just resell one or the other when they arrive.

Forgot that I bought The Woman Who Died A Lot and The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde at a signing last week. Ugh, no wonder I'm broke. :)

And yesterday I bought Feast by Nigella Lawson in the clearance section of B&N yesterday. *head slap* Why do I keep doing this to myself?!?

I escaped work for a dentist appointment yesterday and had time to stumble into the Book Nook. Came away with The Hare with Amber Eyes, Gallows Thief and Later, at the Bar.

8> I love Bernard Cornwell's stories. I just wish he'd written more about the characters in Gallows Thief.
I went to another bookstore for a reading by an historical fiction author, and walked out with a copy of the non-fiction Empires, Nations, and Families: A History of the North American West, 1800-1860 by Anne F. Hyde. The book was a Pulitzer finalist and won the 2012 Bancroft prize.

I got four books for my birthday: Middlemarch, the Cosmicomics of Italo Calvino, Flauberts Parrot by Julian Barnes and City of the blind by José Saramago. Let the cold winter evenings begin!
