I have been happily working my way thru the harry bosch novels by Michael Connelly and would love to hear everyones recommendations for what to read next. I really love the pacing and tone of the novels and especially getting to know Harry.

Stephen Cannell has done some police procedural novels. It's been a while since I read one, maybe time for a reread.

Similar for pacing and tone then I'd suggest the Elvis Cole series by Robert Crais. Starts with The Monkey's Raincoat. There's quite a few in the series to be going on with too. Also the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child which kicks off with Killing Floor.

Ditto on Michael Connelly. I just can't find the time to read them all and zowwy- out he comes with another new one--fabulous!

You might enjoy Peter Robinson's books about Inspector Banks - they are British but still excellent police procedurals, and there are a lot of them!

John Sandford has two really good series Lucas Davenport(darker, intense kind of cop) or Virgil Flowers(can't help but crack you up). Brian McGilloway's Inspector Devlin is pretty good.

Cody McFadyen has a great series going with Smokey Barret as does Karin Slaughter with the Grant County series.

I agree that Crais' Elvis Cole is good as is his Joe Pike series as well as Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks of which I'm still in early days on it.

Giles Blunt has a Canadian police series about John Cardinal, starting with Forty words for sorrow which I think is very well written and intricately plotted.
The Robicheaux novels by James Lee Burke are often recommended in connection with Michael Connelly, although I wasn't enormously impressed with the one novel I read.
Norwegian Jo Nesbø writes a mean police series about Harry Hole - I've only read them in Danish, so I don't know how good the English versions are.
