What were your thoughts on Redshirts by John Scalzi? Planning to read his entire output? Throw the book at the wall? Discuss it here!

I found this one to be a bit odd. I liked the idea, but felt it would have been better suited to a short story or somesuch. The sheer ridiculousness of the main idea was so extreme that asking the reader to suspend belief for the whole book was a bit much.
And I think it is telling that, in the time it has taken for this topic to come up, I have forgotten much of the detail. It was not a memorable book.
Kind of a shame. Really wanted to enjoy this one more.

I have to agree. The idea was cute, but padded out too much. But I find that I feel I should enjoy Scalzi's books more than I do. And I have forgotten most of it too...
