This certainly won't interest all, but is close to my heart as I love walking. I have not done any long distance walks other than the West Highland way (Glasgow to Fort William 154Km (96miles)) http://www.west-highland-way.co.uk/home.asp
I note however that there are some walks related to our literary giants. I have been eyeing the route of Stevenson's walk in the French mountains with the infamous Modestine the donkey (Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes (1879) ) which is now a well resourced route http://www.chemin-stevenson.org/ of 250km.
The other wilder . longer and I reckon more fatiguing is the route that follows David Balfour's Kidnapped adventure from Mull to Edinburgh. 370km http://www.stevensonway.org.uk/
Burns also has a walk, buy my knowledge is paltry http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/galloway/burns-dumfries.shtml
I did not ealise but there is a Sir Walter Scott route too. A healthy 148km in the Scottish Lowlands (when you've had enough of the Highlands after the Stevenson Way!)

Inclement weather aside, you just can't beat getting away from it all with a good book!

I also envy those who can walk across the highlands, given I am at present rooted 10000 miles away, but hoping to change that in the next while :-)

Some more definite plans afoot (ha). Planning to do an early winter long distance walk in Scotland 2017 with a bunch of mates.
