Sorry everyone, still super, super busy - so no questions this month. At least I got a few books read.

Thanks for starting a new thread, Chéli! I know it's been a tough few months.
I've got my first ROOT for July, 23 overall, with Le Guerrier solitaire by Henning Mankell

Hopefully the literal and metaphorical flood waters are receding, Chéli. Thanks for taking the time out to bring us up to date with the group's figures. Glad to see we are a bit ahead of ourselves.

>3 Robertgreaves: Right now we are kind of in a holding pattern. The builder is supposed to come the week of July 10th to replace the floors in about 40% of the house. After that we can start to continue the unpacking process. The closets that we are having remodeled will be done the end of August, then we should be able to finally get everything put away. In the mean time, my sister and her hubbie are coming for a visit the end of July, and in mid-August we go back to Maryland for a week - wedding and other commitments.

At least on the road trips I get reading done.

I have also had a crazy June. I thought I would spend two weeks in Kansas and that turned into four. Thankfully I had plenty of reading material with me. While I was in Kansas my mother got Shingles. They were all over her face and head. It was very painful. I am thankful that I got the ShingreX shot two years ago. I thought my mother had gotten it at the same time. (My sisters and my mother were going to get vaccinated remotely together by in 2021. Guess which one of the four of us didn't follow through?) I am now trying to get started on cleaning out my house so that I can move this fall. I will probably be doing that right before Christmas. Won't that be fun!

The upside of all this - I got lots of reading done.

Thanks Chèli for the July Thread. It sounds like you are finally on the road up. Getting things sorted and inpacked slowly. And READING again!

I'm glad to hear that there is an end in sight for all your troubles, Chèli. Crossing my fingers for you that nothing else goes awry! And thank you so much for all your work!

Good to see that things are coming together for you, Chèli, and that you were able to find the time to start a thread for July. It's nice to see how close we are to our goal. I should write up the 3 ROOTs I haven't posted about yet to add to the one I already have on my thread for July. It's not the reading that's the issue, it's the recording!

I finished my first ROOT on the 1st day of the month. This one was Network Effect by Martha Wells. it was a fun space romp - as are all the other books in the series.

I've finished two ROOTs in July so far: I had only one chapter left in Homegoing at the end of June and finished it up on July 1. And I started and finished Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

Still trying here, RL has been keeping me from getting much reading done.

Two ROOTs so far in July which means I've hit my goal! The Anthropocene Reviewed and Mexican Gothic. Still need to update my thread and ticker, though.

I have my second ROOT for July. This one is To Kill a Troubadour by Martin Walker. It is book 16 in the Bruno Courreges series. This is a fun police procedural series that is set in the Dordogne region of France. The entire series provides a window into the culture of the region and the murder mysteries are just a vehicle for that cultural exploration.

ROOT 2 for July and 24 overall with Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier which has been lingering on my shelves since 2008.

I am reading a 760page Dickens and will probably not meet my monthly minimum of 7. But I am enjoying Barnaby Rudge a lot.

A third ROOT for July! I've already beaten my June ROOT total. This one was Run Silent, Run Deep, by Edward L. Beach.

Back from holiday and belatedly adding my first ROOT for July, finished while I was away. That makes 24 ROOTS for the year to date so far - I'm still not halfway to my _target.

Edited a bit later to add #2 for July, #25 for the year, which I finished today.

Edited again to add #3, #26 for the year, which I DNF'd.

A fourth ROOT! Missy: Series 1, a box set of Doctor Who audio dramas produced by Big Finish. I've had this on the go since May and happened to finish it today. Now up to 30/50 ROOTs total.

So far I've posted 6 ROOTs for July but I'm not sure how many more I'll be able to get to. The library holds are coming in thick and fast.

I finished ROOT #65 and completed my challenge! Needless to say, I'll keep reading and adding to our numbers.

It's hard for me to give up on one after I start it. But fortunately, so far this year the books I've read are ones I wanted to finish.

ROOT 3 for July and 25 overall, Les Années by Annie Ernaux on my shelves since 2009. I'm delighted to have finally read it. What a wonderfully constructed and unique book.

July was the worst reading month for me in 15 years with only 3 books read and only 2 ROOTs. I will lose my star. :-(

Guess I'm really going to have to step it up to get to my goal this year. At least I can say that I'm almost finished unpacking.

I am not going to get another ROOT finished by midnight so here is my July report. I have 8 ROOT's finished. No tickers updated.

I spent a great deal of time on the road traveling this month and am surprised to find that I only finished 2 recorded books. I feel like have spent the entire month on the road and so there should have been more, but clearly that is not the case.
