Doctor Olaf van Schuler's Brain

I just finished this book and have to say I'm charmed. Essentially a series of vignettes that center around several generations of one family, each story is perfectly capable of standing alone. Has anyone else read this one? I'm recommending it to friends, but wonder if the structure will be off-putting to some readers.

I read this book and loved it. Because it's quirky and unique and written in vingettes, there will be some readers who don't like it, but isn't that true for most books? I'm giving Olaf to a couple of friends for Christmas---they work in mental health and will love it, I think. In terms of recommending a book, I say if you enjoyed a book, tell you friends what you liked about it. Whether they read the book or whether they like it or not is probably best left to them.

I agree with Jayne. One of my absolute favorite books is Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, but I've had heated conversations with people who vehemently hate that book. But if it came down to recommending it to someone I wasn't sure would like it or not talking about it at all, I'd definitely opt talk about it.
