I am going to try again for 2010. I didn't make the goal in 2009 because I started late and got involved in a few too many 600 page books. I am also doing the 1010 challenge with 10 books in each category, so the way I figure it I'll at least make one of my goals for 2010!

Glad to see you are sticking with us for another try! Good luck with 1010, too.

1. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
I love reading books that I've seen the movie to because it's interesting to see just how different the book is!

I hesitate to see the movie, because I loved the book... What do you think?

I liked the book as well as the movie but the movie showed a bit more as to the made up characters of Terabithia where as the book didn't go into much detail on them.

2. Keeper of Secrets...Translations of an Incident by Anjuelle Floyd.
10alcottacre
How are you liking the Fablehaven books? I read the first one last year, but have not read any of the others to this point.
11mistique0130
I love them so far. I do have trouble getting through them but the second one was even better than the 1st. I have #3 at home and hope to start this afternoon.
12alcottacre
I will have to pick up the second book the next time I am at the library.

5. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne-this was the readable classic edition
15mistique0130
7. Into the Path of Gods by Kathleen Cunningham Guler
16alcottacre
#15: Nice review of that one. I think I will give it a pass for now though.
18alcottacre
#17: What did you think of The Sea? I just got a copy in a couple of weeks ago, but have not had a chance to read it yet.
19mistique0130
#18 I loved the author's elegant prose but I found it to be a little too jumpy going from different times in Max's life. It was a good fast read and it did keep me wanting to see what happened next.
20alcottacre
#19: OK, thanks for the input!

11. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

Too late for me - I just turned 48 :)

#29: I have read a couple of Churchill's mysteries, but not that one. Was it any good?
31mistique0130
#30: It was about the same as the other Grace and Favor mysteries. I haven't tried her other series yet. I would say it was just OK but it was a quick read. I just have this thing about finishing a series once I start it.

Oh, I know how that goes, believe me. Unless a series is just absolutely terrible, I will hang with it. Some series start out very well, like the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell, and then go down the tubes. I finally stopped reading those because they had gotten so bad (at least to me.)

How did you like Oh. My. Gods.? I have a copy here that I won from the author's blog, but I haven't got around to reading it yet. It looks good though!
38mistique0130
#37 I thought it was pretty good. I have got Goddess Boot Camp at home and plan to start that next week. Oh.My.Gods was good and a quick read too!

49alcottacre
#48: I like those mysteries - and the recipes are terrific!
50mistique0130
#49 I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. I think when I get to some of the more recent ones in the series with the apple turnovers I will have to try those. I do want to try the pound plus cake recipe for strawberry shortcake in this one though!
51alcottacre
Yum! Pound cake. Love that stuff - unfortunately, so do my hips :)

29. Rooms by James L. Rubart

53: Rooms looks interesting--what did you think about it?
Karen O.
p.s. you're making good progress on the 75-book thing!

#53 I am doing better than I did last year on this challenge but I don't think I'll make it. I liked Rooms. I lot of reviews thought it was preachy but I liked that it was modern and I thought the lessons were laid out nicely. I didn't find it preachy at all!
56alcottacre
No worries about the numbers around here! Just enjoy the reads and the group.

67mistique0130
#66 I am enjoying those. I think I am reading several series right now including the Sookie Stackhouse ones. I am also waiting to get book #5 in Brandon Mull's Fablehaven series so I can be done with that and Mockingjay is sitting in my TBR pile so I can finish that trilogy! Plus I got Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr in my TBR so I have a lot of catching up to do!

I hope you have a dandy of book picked out for book 50!

#86 I hope it's a dandy too! I picked Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull.

50. The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull
89alcottacre
So, was the Mull book a good choice for #50?
90mistique0130
#89 well it was OK but it was not really what I expected. I thought it would be along the lines of Fablehaven books but it was more about magicians.
91alcottacre
Well, since the next milestone for you is book 75, I hope it proves to be a better book!
