Enjoyed the premise of the book that high school love can be real but like many of the chick-lit books it took forever to move forward. A lot of thinking about the past. Enjoyed the characters of Lilly/Lacey and Ty and how they could still care about each other after all the time that past. Liked the mystery of who was trying to murder and knew there was more to the uncle's story. Thought Hunter played the part of a true friend and look forward to next book about him. ( ) Cross My Heart is a well rounded blend of storytelling. Phillips welcomes readers into a world as intriguing as it is heartbreaking. Ty and Lily are a love interrupted before it had even began. Desperation separated them before their feelings could ever be more. Ten years later fate finds a way to reunite them. Will the outcome be different this time around? Cross My Heart is a tale of friendship and family. For Ty, Hunter and Lily love is more than a feeling. It's a way of life. An okay read, read well: The best thing about the audio edition of this book is reader Marie Caliendo's pacing and vocal characterizations. Ms. Caliendo takes her time rendering this predictable, riches-to-rags-to-riches story. Her vocal characterizations lent interest to otherwise one-dimensional, underdeveloped participants. The shamelessly open ending almost screams "sequel!," but if Marie Caliendo is the reader, I'd consider getting it. What I was expecting from Cross My Heart was a quick, simple read, something you could take to the beach and have it finished by the time you were ready to come home - except it was far to cold for the beach today - so I had to settle for my comfy chair. I got what I expected. It took me all of 5 hours to finish the book. The plot and dialog were simple. I did enjoyed the characters. Lacey and Ty had tons of chemistry. I am really looking forward to reading Molly and Hunter’s story which is in the follow-up book, Sealed With A Kiss. no reviews | add a review
