This first book collects issues 1-6. The story seems well structured despite the number of characters. It is basically a revision of an older collection of stories called "The Squadrion Supreme". It features Marvel variations of Superman (hyperion), Batman (nighthawk), Green Lantern (doctor prysm), and a few others. ( )

Carter gives the order that begins the top secret Hyperion Project:
"It's the law of this country that children orphaned without next of kin are to be wards of the state. I see no reason to make an exception in this case.
"He's a child of the United States.
"See to it he's raised like one."
